Aetna has announced the launch of a patient-centered medical home program in Massachusetts.
More than 300 physicians are currently part of Aetna's Massachusetts PCMH program, and the program is growing. Primary care providers who are in Aetna's networks and are recognized by the National Committee for Quality Assurance as a PCMH and that are not involved in other Aetna quality incentive programs are being considered for the PCMH program.
Participating providers will receive a quarterly "coordination of care" payment for each non-Medicare Aetna patient they care for.
"Patient-centered care is something Aetna has always advocated. Our PCMH program rewards PCPs who focus on the patient's entire health needs, not just a single condition," Elizabeth Curran, Aetna's head of national network strategy and program development, said in the news release.
