Oak Brook, Ill.-based Advocate Medical Group, the physician arm of Advocate Health Care, has acquired the Oak Lawn, Ill.-based Heart Institute for Children, according to a Crain's Chicago Business report.
The purchase will add thirteen pediatric cardiologists to Advocate's medical group, bringing the total number on staff to 36. Advocate Medical is the largest physicians group in the Chicago area, according to Crain's. It maintains a network of 990 physicians and netted $876 million in revenue in 2011.
The heart institute will be renamed Advocate Heart Institute for Children.
