AAFP releases 2015 list of top family medicine programs

The American Academy of Family Physicians recognized the top 11 U.S. medical schools with the highest number of graduates pursuing family medicine residencies post-medical school.

The 2015 results are based on family medicine matriculation rates for students who graduated in 2012, 2013 and 2014.

Here are the top medical schools with highest number of graduates entering into family medicine.

1. Grand Forks-based University of North Dakota ─ 20.8 percent
2. Kansas City-based University of Kansas ─ 19.7 percent
3. Minneapolis-based University of Minnesota ─ 18.8 percent
4. Greenville, N.C.-based EastCarolinaUniversity ─ 18.5 percent
5. Seattle-based University of Washington ─ 17.6 percent
6. Portland-based Oregon Health and ScienceUniversity ─ 16.9 percent
7. Tallahassee-based FloridaStateUniversity ─ 16.2 percent
8. University of Missouri - Columbia ─ 16 percent
9. Madison-based University of Wisconsin ─ 15.9 percent
10. University of California, Irvine ─ 15.8 percent
11. Albuquerque-based University of New Mexico ─ 15.8 percent
