The following deals between hospitals and physicians — including acquisitions, affiliations, leasing arrangements and joint ventures — occurred or were announced since the end of September, starting with the most recent.
1. Northwestern Memorial HealthCare in Chicago is paying about $350 million to acquire Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation, a 900-physician practice affiliated with Northwestern University.
2. Swedish Medical Group, a division of Seattle-based Swedish Health Services, acquired Edmonds, Wash.-based Children's Clinic of South Snohomish County.
3. Cleveland Clinic announced plans to acquire Ohio Cancer Specialists, a cancer treatment center based in Mansfield, Ohio.
4. The Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute, a National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center in Detroit, signed an agreement to join Flint, Mich.-based McLaren Health Care, creating the largest cancer research and provider network in Michigan.
5. TriHealth in Cincinnati purchased Pulmonary Consultants Inc., a five-physician pulmonary group practice in Cincinnati.
6. Southcoast Physicians Network, an association of more than 325 physicians and a member of New Bedford, Mass.-based Southcoast Health System, extended its affiliation with the New England Quality Care Alliance, a network of physicians affiliated with Tufts Medical Center in Boston.
7. Marquette (Mich.) General Hospital acquired Marquette-based Upper Michigan Cardiovascular Associates, a 12-physician group and the largest cardiology and vascular group in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.
