Franklin County Medical Center is a rural critical access hospital in Preston, Idaho. FCMC has served as a local healthcare hub since 1929.

1. FCMC is comprised of a 20-bed critical access hospital and an attached 35-bed skilled nursing facility.
2. In 2016, the hospital won the Performance Leadership Award from the National Organization of State Offices of Rural Health. Only 100 hospitals receive this award nationally out of 1,300 small rural hospitals.
3. It is the second-largest employer in Franklin County. In 2016, the hospital was able to hire an additional 20 people and put a total of $11.7 million back into the community through wages and benefits.
4. Alan Bird serves as CEO of FCMC. Previously he's held a variety of executive roles, including CEO of Nature Coast Regional Hospital in Williston, Fla., and CEO of Deer Lodge (Mont.) Medical Center.
5. FCMC embarked on several building and equipment improvement projects in 2016, totaling more than $800,000. Projects include:
- Remodeled development disability agency department
- Remodeled Willow Valley Clinic in Preston
- Completed construction of an additional operating room
- Created a new IV therapy room
- Remodeled a post-partum room
6. In 2016, the hospital launched a physical therapy department and expanded its rehabilitative services. It also hired an athletic trainer and began providing sports medicine to local schools.
