The following residency programs have been announced or launched in the last month. They are listed below, beginning with the most recent.
1. Athens Regional to host 45-resident training program
Athens (Ga.) Regional Medical Center announced it earned accreditation to launch a three-year internal medicine residency program, which will provide slots for 45 residents, with 15 residents training each year.
2. First osteopathic emergency medicine residency in North Carolina approved
Campbell University's Lillington, N.C.-based Jerry M. Wallace School of Osteopathic Medicine and Lumberton, N.C.-based Southeastern Health received full accreditation from the American Osteopathic Association for its emergency medicine residency program.
3. Texas A&M, DeTar to launch family medicine residency in 2016
The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education approved a new, three-year family medicine residency program, hosted by Victoria, Texas-based DeTar Healthcare System and Round Rock-based Texas A&M Health Science Center.
4. Saint Louis University School of Medicine awarded $6.6M for primary care program
Saint Louis University School of Medicine will receive $6.6 million from the Los Angeles-based Everest Foundation to bolster primary care programs. The funds will be used over a 10-year period for a visiting research fellowship, two family medicine residency positions, three internal medicine residency positions and seven annual scholarships for family physicians seeking a master's degree in public health.
5. Sarasota Memorial Hospital to launch new residency program
Sarasota (Fla.) Memorial Hospital is finalizing an agreement with Florida State University to establish a new internal medicine residency program.
