Ohio's Summa Health to Layoff 60 Workers as Part of 10-Year Cost-Reduction Plan

Akron, Ohio-based Summa Health System announced a 10-year plan to reduce expenses by $966 million, which includes laying off 60 workers within the next few weeks, according to a WEWS News report.

The system said the cuts are not in response to financial struggles but rather to address changes brought on by healthcare reform. As part of the plan, Summa will reduce its annual expenses by 10 percent over the first five years, according to the report.
