Healthcare workers in Philadelphia are planning to rally outside of Thomas Jefferson University Hospital this Saturday, according to a union news release.
The workers are members of District 1199C of the National Union of Hospital and Health Care Employees. The union is negotiating contracts with some of the city's largest hospitals, including Thomas Jefferson, Hahnemann University Hospital, Temple University Hospital and the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia.
Hundreds of NUHHCE members, most of whom are support staff, voted to strike from these hospitals and others beginning July 1 if contract agreements are not reached by that time. They have sent 10-day strike notices to their employers.
