The White House asked Matthew Doherty, executive director of the U.S. Interagency Council on Homelessness, to step down, The Washington Post reports.
The Interagency Council on Homelessness coordinates federal strategy to address homelessness across various agencies. Mr. Doherty has been in the executive director role since 2015. No replacement has been named, according to the report.
Previous reports from The Washington Post indicated the Trump administration is considering executive action to address homelessness, particularly in California. The council has not been involved in that planning, according to the report.
