Anthony J. Tedeschi, MD, CEO of Weiss Memorial Hospital in Chicago and CEO of the Northwest Region-Chicago Market for Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare was named the recipient of the 2015 Chicago Health Executives Forum/American College of Health Executives Healthcare Leadership Excellence Award.
CHEF is the largest independent chapter of ACHE. The CHEF/ACHE Healthcare Leadership Excellence Award was established to recognize individuals who have fostered advancement in the field of healthcare management.
The award is presented to a Chicago-area healthcare leader who has consistently demonstrated administrative achievement and creativity in the areas of development and adoption of best practices in healthcare management, successful stewardship of capital projects or significant organizational initiatives, operations performance improvement, healthcare public policy initiatives, professional mentoring or community leadership or volunteerism.
"I am honored to receive this award," Dr. Tedeschi said. "I began my career in private practice as a physician, caring for patients and families. I never thought of doing anything else, but over time I transitioned into healthcare leadership and this role has been extremely fulfilling as well. Redesigning healthcare to concentrate on improvements in quality and safety and focusing on the teamwork involved to deliver great care is very rewarding. I'm grateful and honored at this recognition from CHEF/ACHE."
Dr. Tedeschi has more than 20 years of experience in operational and clinical leadership. Previously, he served as CMO and lead executive in the Tenet Healthcare Chicago Market and as interim COO for Chicago-based Cook County Health & Hospitals System.
