A federal push for electronic health records and a downtrodden economy are the primary reasons University of Mississippi Medical Center has laid off 115 employees, according to a WJTV report.
The layoffs affect administrators, nurses and other staff members and are expected to save the hospital more than $12 million this year alone, according to the report.
The laid off employees will receive 30-day severance pay. In addition to the layoffs, the hospital will not fill 90 vacancies.
