University of Southern California's Sol Price School of Public Policy partnered with the National Bundled Payment Collaborative to host the C-Suite Invitational May 12 in Los Angeles.
Johnese Spisso, president of UCLA Health, CEO of UCLA Hospital System and associate vice chancellor of UCLA Health Sciences, kicked the morning off. The keynote speaker was former hospital CEO and best-selling author Josh Luke, PhD, who designed USC's graduate health policy post acute curriculum.
Dr. Luke, a healthcare futurist, said Ms. Spisso shared UCLA Health's new vision, and he discussed his new book, Ex-Acute: A former hospital CEO tells all about what's wrong with American healthcare, What every American needs to know.
Dr. Luke has been presenting on hospitals transforming to a "discharge-home" mentality since he founded the National Readmission Prevention Collaborative in 2011.
The event sold out and was attended by more than 200 hospital executives from California and nationwide. Executives from Englewood, Colo.-based Catholic Health Initiatives, San Diego-based Scripps Health, Los Angeles-based Cedars Sinai, Los Angeles-based Keck Hospital of USC and non medical home care company HomeHero also presented, according to Dr. Luke.
