Trump hospital visit was 'preventative,' White House says

The White House declared President Donald Trump's Nov. 16 visit to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Md., a preventive care visit, The New York Times reports.

An official statement issued Nov. 18 from President Trump's Navy physician, Cmdr. Sean Conley, DO, said the visit was "a routine, planned interim checkup as part of the regular, primary preventative care he receives throughout the year," according to the report. Dr. Conley's report included an update on President Trump's cholesterol, which is down 31 points since February, but no information on his weight or if he had a colonoscopy as planned.

The two-hour, unannounced visit prompted speculation about President Trump's health, as it was three months early for his annual exam, according to the report.

Dr. Conley also noted President Trump is scheduled for another upcoming visit.

"Primary preventative medical care is something that occurs continuously throughout the year, it is not just a single annual event," Dr. Conley said, according to The New York Times. "As such, I will continue to monitor the president's health, planning on a more comprehensive examination after the new year."
