Trump fires back at McConnell: 'After 7 years of hearing Repeal & Replace, why not done?'

President Donald Trump responded in a tweet Wednesday to critical comments made by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., by asking why healthcare legislation was "not done," according to CBS News.

"Now our new president has of course not been in this line of work before, and I think had excessive expectations about how quickly things happen in the democratic process," Mr. McConnell said Monday during a speech in Florence, Ky.

Mr. Trump took to Twitter Wednesday offer a response to Mr. McConnell, writing that he did not believe his expectations were excessive and asking why nothing has been done after seven years of Republicans calling for a repeal of the ACA.

Mr. Trump has been critical of Republican leadership during the party's recent efforts to craft a bill to repeal and replace the ACA, the most recent of which was voted down 51 to 49 after three Republican senators voted with Democrats. Though many in the Senate have resigned themselves to focus on other legislative issues for now, Mr. Trump has still pushed Republicans to work on healthcare.

Earlier Wednesday morning, Don Scavino, director of social media for Mr. Trump, had slightly more pointed words for Mr. McConnell.

"More excuses. @SenateMajLdr must have needed another 4 years - in addition to the 7 years -- to repeal and replace Obamacare....." Mr. Scavino wrote in a tweet.
