Former HHS Secretary Tom Price, MD, has paid back taxpayers for his use of private jets, according to CNN.
An HHS official told the news channel a $51,887.31 payment for the cost of his seat on the charter flights has been processed.
Dr. Price resigned Sept. 29 amid a scandal over his frequent use of taxpayer-funded chartered flights. Politico reported Dr. Price made at least 26 flights on private jets, costing taxpayers an estimated hundreds of thousands of dollars. Dr. Price agreed to refund the cost of his seat on the flights. However, he ultimately resigned amid criticism over the scandal.
The HHS official told CNN Dr. Price's payment for the cost of his seat was written prior to his resignation last week.
