Financially struggling West Penn Allegheny Health System in Pittsburgh plans to build more low-cost urgent care and outpatient care centers in order to prepare for the impact of healthcare reform and turn around the system, according to a PittsburghTribune-Review report.
The plan includes the development of at least four outpatient centers in the area, including one in Murrysville, Pa., according to the report.
In June, Moody's downgraded the health system's credit rating from B1 to Ba3. Following, the hospital announced plans to consolidate services and lay off 1,500 workers.
