St. Mary's Hospital in Streator, Ill., plans to close its maternity unit and end home health services this summer, according to a My Web Times report.
The maternity unit will close July 25, and home health services will end June 27.
The maternity unit closure is tied to the lack of practicing physicians in the region who deliver babies, according to the report. St. Mary's is working with area hospitals to ensure expectant mothers in Streator still have access to care.
St. Mary's has been losing a "significant amount of money" on home health services, President and CEO John Flanders told My Web Times, which contributed to the decision to end those services in Streator.
Twenty-five employees will be affected by the service cuts, according to the report.
