Come December, 44 employees will lose their jobs at St. Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma, Wash., according to a The News Tribune.
Here are three things to know about the layoffs.
1. Affected employees are certified nursing assistants, care assistants and health unit coordinators.
2. St. Joseph's parent, Tacoma-based CHI Franciscan Health, addressed the cuts in a statement: "CHI Franciscan Health is always making staff changes — in fact we have nearly 600 openings posted on our public website right now, and we have more than 12,000 employees. Providing exceptional patient care requires constant assessment, and we need to change and adapt to meet our patients' needs," system officials said.
3. Affected employees will receive assistance transferring to other positions within St. Joseph and CHI Franciscan Health, according to the health system.
