A Senate committee on Tuesday declared the House-approved American Health Care Act complies with the chamber's budget reconciliation rules, reports Politico.
The decision, announced by the Senate Budget Committee, marks a victory for Republicans, who hoped to use the rules to advance their ACA repeal and replace efforts. The rules allow the House bill to pass the Senate with a simple majority vote.
Meanwhile, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., said the Senate is close to having its own version of a healthcare reform bill, reports The Washington Times.
"We're getting close to having a proposal to whip and to take to the floor," Mr. McConnell said. "We've had seven years to talk about healthcare."
