Rockingham, N.C.-based Richmond Memorial Hospital is ending its labor and delivery services Feb. 28, affecting 23 full-time and five part-time employees, according to a report by The Richmond County Daily Journal.
Some of the affected employees may be reassigned to other positions in the system.
The services will be transferred to Pinehurst, N.C.-based FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, according to the report. Richmond Memorial has been a division of Moore Regional since 2009.
Richmond Memorial has seen a declining birth rate, which contributed to the decision to stop offering labor and delivery services, The Richmond County Daily Journal reported.
