House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., said this week passing an ACA replacement bill will not be a quick process, reports the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
Here are four things to know.
1. The GOP's ACA replacement bill, known as the American Health Care Act, was pulled from the House floor in March due to lack of support.
2. This month, White House officials and House Republicans held healthcare discussions in an attempt to revive efforts to pass an ACA replacement plan. However, Rep. Ryan told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel efforts to pass such a bill will not move fast, and lawmakers have been "shopping concepts to each other."
"We've got a couple months at least," he said in the interview.
"We've gotten pretty far in coming together," he added, "but I also think we're not there yet — because the stakes are so high, and people are just having to get used to" Republicans as the majority party.
3. Rep. Ryan expressed similar sentiments Wednesday during a forum hosted by the website WisPolitics.com, saying of a healthcare bill, "We can keep working this for weeks now," according to the report.
4. The House is slated to begin a two-week recess Monday.
