After serving as President of Planned Parenthood for more than 10 years, Cecile Richards will reportedly step down, according to Politico.
Ms. Richards' departure comes as the Trump administration works to revoke taxpayer funding for the women's health organization and after fighting numerous battles with anti-abortion activists.
While the organization has yet to confirm her departure — saying only that she plans to discuss her next steps at a board meeting scheduled next week — people familiar with her decision spoke about her plans.
Prior to her role at Planned Parenthood, Ms. Richards served as deputy chief of staff to House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and founded America Votes, a coalition of groups that worked on voter registration, education and participation.
