Republicans are set to simultaneously repeal and replace the ACA within President-elect Donald Trump's first 100 days in office, House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., said at a town hall hosted by CNN Thursday.
"We want to do this at the same time, and in some cases in the same bill," Speaker Ryan said, according to CNN. "So we want to advance repealing this law with its replacement at the same time." He was unable to provide a date for the repeal, but said Republicans are working on the issue as fast as they can.
Though there is not consensus yet on any one replacement plan, Speaker Ryan said "there's a role for the government in healthcare," and voiced support for popular provisions of the ACA, such as the protections for people with pre-existing conditions.
