In the last three months, Parkland Health and Hospital System in Dallas has dismissed roughly 75 people who did not meet the administration's expectations for their jobs, according to a HealthLeaders Media report.
The eliminations follow a CMS investigation last summer that identified patient safety violations throughout the hospital. Parkland's interim CEO Thomas Royer said a number of employees were encouraged to leave and many of the employees were not performing their roles or had been careless.
Mr. Moyer said Parkland has focused on certain departments, including the psychiatric and emergency departments. "We turned over a lot of positions in the psychiatric and emergency departments where this all started a year and a half ago that had to do with consistency of performance and had to do with management and oversight and so forth," Mr. Moyer said in the report.
