Northside Hospital-Cherokee in Canton, Ga., plans to move forward with its plans for a $250 million relocation following the dismissal of an appeal over the relocation by competing WellStar Health System, based in Marietta, Ga., according to a Cherokee Tribune report.
WellStar had appealed a decision by the Georgia Department of Community Health that Northside Hospital-Cherokee did not need certificate of need approval to relocate and replace its current facility within the same town.
WellStar is able to appeal to decision in Superior Court, but officials from the health system have not yet decided whether they will seek court action against the Department.
Northside announced plans to replace its current, 84-bed facility last August, according to the report.
