Nicklaus Children's Hospital in Miami has laid off 135 employees, according to the Miami Herald.
The job cuts come as the hospital works to offset patient admission declines, insurance reimbursement drops and drug expense increases.
"This action was part of a series of measures to preserve the financial health of our organization and the vital services we provide to the children of our community," Rachel Perry, a Nicklaus Children's spokesperson, told the Herald.
The layoffs will affect management, administrative, technical and clinical support positions.
