Montana health system to restructure leadership, modify 130 roles

Kalispell (Mont.) Regional Healthcare is redesigning its leadership structure, and the move will affect approximately 130 health system leaders.

The redesign will include changes in leadership structure as well as modified titles, roles and/or responsibilities. The health system believes the number of involuntary departures will be minimal, as most leaders affected by the changes will be given opportunities to assume new positions within the structure.

"This redesign is not meant to diminish the work currently being performed by our leaders," reads a statement from the health system emailed to Becker's Hospital Review. "Our goal is to better align roles with the needs of the organization while retaining as many employees as possible through different roles and opportunities within KRH."

The health system also noted that the new leadership structure aims to "provide role clarity and accountability, support financial stewardship, improve organizational efficiency, increase leadership visibility and help our organization adapt to a changing environment."

The health system did not respond to specific questions from Becker's Hospital Review regarding the roles and titles that will be affected.

The news comes just as Kalispell Regional President and CEO Pamela Robertson is set to depart. She resigned for personal reasons, but expressed "extreme confidence in the organization's future." The health system's CFO and CIO Charles Pearce resigned in April, and Chief Nursing Officer Karen Lee, RN, plans to retire Dec. 31.

Additionally, in October, Kalispell Regional Healthcare System and six subsidiaries and related entities agreed to pay the federal government $24 million to resolve allegations of violating the False Claims Act, Stark Law and the Anti-Kickback Statute.
