Merit Health Natchez (Miss.) will lay off 13 employees this week, according to a report from The Natchez Democrat.
Here are four things to know about the job cuts.
1. Employees impacted by the job cuts include administrative workers, dietary personnel employed by the kitchen service and environmental services employees.
2. The affected employees may apply for re-hiring if positions are open again, the hospital's spokesman said, according to the report. The hospital is also working with a job center to provide help with employment.
3. Although the hospital has cut positions, it is still hiring for some clinical and non-clinical positions, according to The Natchez Democrat.
4. According to the report, the job cuts come as Merit Health Natchez completes its consolidation of the former Natchez Regional Medical Center and Natchez Community Hospital campuses. The former Natchez Community Hospital campus is set to close today, and all hospital services were moved roughly one mile away to the Merit Health Natchez campus, the former Natchez Regional Medical Center.
