Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker (R) signed a bill Wednesday to change the name of the Massachusetts Hospital School in Canton to the Pappas Rehabilitation Hospital for Children, according to the Canton Journal.
The new name comes from longtime board member Arthur Pappas, MD. "Dr. Pappas dedicated his life to the fields of medicine and children's advocacy. He excelled in medicine, but also left his mark through helping others in his spare time as a celebrated philanthropist. Dr. Pappas made a positive impact on his neighbors, patients and our state, and he deserves this honor," state Rep. William Galvin (D) told the Canton Journal.
The hospital's CEO told the newspaper he is also glad the new name will be less of a source of confusion and more aligned with the mission of the organization, which provides medical and rehabilitative services to children.
