Boston-based Massachusetts General Hospital is kicking off Elevate, its new mentorship and scholar program for junior faculty members with leadership potential.
The curriculum was developed by Aithan Shapira, PhD, a lecturer at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and focuses on fostering communication skills, emotional intelligence and leadership management practices. Dr. Shapira has "pioneered progressive curricula at the edge of leadership and skills retraining at MIT Sloan School of Management, Harvard Innovation Labs, Stanford University, and the Berklee Institute for Creative Entrepreneurship," according to a Jan. 18 news release shared with Becker's.
Elevate's first cohort consists of 15 members, who will move through the curriculum over 12 months. Intensive seminars, practice groups, coaching and mentorship, and a capstone project are used to enhance participants' learning.
The program is supported by a $3 million grant from the Ruderman Family Foundation, the release said.
