Ellsworth-based Maine Coast Memorial Hospital needs to trim $3 million from its budget, which will lead to layoffs, according to a Bangor Daily News report.
The hospital said budget cuts were made necessary by lower Medicare and Medicaid reimbursements, as well as lower inpatient volumes, according to the report.
It is not yet clear how many of the hospital's 650 employees will be affected by the layoffs.
