Lafayette (La.) Surgical Specialty Hospital, a 20-bed physician-owned hospital, laid off 14 employees, according to ABiz.
Hospital CEO Buffy Domingue said the cuts are due to "declining reimbursements and changing economic pressures," the report states.
"After careful consideration the LSSH board agreed the restructuring of the hospital was necessary to continue the hospital's mission to provide quality care to our community," Ms. Domingue said, according to ABiz. "We wish this wasn't necessary, but after a thorough review of the ongoing economic pressures, we had no other options."
The cuts affect clinical and non-clinical workers, according to the report.
