Brentwood, Tenn.-based LifePoint Hospitals has released financial results for its fourth quarter ended Dec. 31, reporting increased revenue but a decline in profit of 5.3 percent, compared to the same quarter a year prior.
For the fourth quarter, net income attributable to LifePoint was $36.2 million, down from $38 million in the previous year's fourth quarter. However, the company's profits were up 16 percent for the year. Net income attributable to LifePoint was $155.5 million for the twelve months ended Dec. 31, 2010, compared to $134.1 million for the same period in 2009.
Fourth quarter revenues from continuing operations increased 14.3 percent compared to the year prior from $746.9 million in 2009 to $853.3 million in 2010.
For the year, revenues from continuing operations were $3.26 billion, up 10.1 percent from $2.96 billion for 2009.
