A lawsuit filed by the medical staff at Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, Fla., against the hospital's board of directors was dismissed after both groups mutually agreed to the dismissal, according to a report by Florida Today.
Richard Hynes, MD, the former chief medical officer of the hospital, filed the suit in Jan. 2009. As part of the agreement, the hospital will also drop its countersuit against Dr. Hynes.
The original suit alleged that the board violated hospital bylaws. No other details were provided in the report. The hospital called the allegations "groundless," according to the report.
