Kenmore Mercy to Close Unit, Affecting 30 Employees

Kenmore (N.Y.) Mercy Hospital is closing a patient care unit Jan. 12, which will affect 30 nurses, nurse aides and unit clerks, according to a report by The Buffalo News.

Many affected employees can move to other positions within the hospital or its system, Catholic Health System in Buffalo, N.Y., according to the report.

Kenmore Mercy is seeing decreased patient volumes, leading to the unit closure and subsequent consolidation of nursing units, according to the report. The average number of hospital admissions has decreased 15 percent over the last four months, The Buffalo News reported.
