Chattanooga, Tenn.-based Parkridge Health System will end inpatient services at Parkridge West Hospital in Jasper, Tenn., next month, according to a Chattanooga Times Free Press report.
The move, which is scheduled for April 6, means about 20 employees will lose their jobs, Parkridge Health System officials said, according to the report. A job fair is planned, and there will be an attempt to try to match employees with vacancies within the Parkridge Health System, the report reads.
Parkridge Health System officials said in the report that less than 2 percent of patients have used inpatient care and inpatient surgical services within the hospital's "full scope of services," in spite of $14 million in hospital upgrades over the last year.
According to the report, the hospital will still provide 24-hour emergency room services, inpatient behavioral healthcare at its MountainviewTreatment Center and outpatient care, such as imaging and laboratory services.
