Davenport, Iowa-based Genesis Health System is cutting 48 jobs, or about 1 percent of the organization's workforce, according to The Dispatch-Argus.
Genesis, a six-hospital system serving communities in Iowa and Illinois, attributed the move to cost-cutting efforts.
"Healthcare organizations across the country, including Genesis, are challenged by a rapidly changing healthcare environment with shrinking reimbursements and escalating costs," spokesperson Craig Cooper said in an April 20 news release cited by The Dispatch-Argus. "Despite many successful cost-saving measures in recent years, Genesis now must take additional action to position the organization for continued financial viability."
The job cuts include 12 executive and management positions, according to the report. Mr. Cooper said affected employees have the opportunity to find another job within Genesis.
