Hutchinson (Kan.) Regional Medical Center has laid off 55 employees in an effort to reduce expenses, according to a Wichita Eagle report.
Eleven part-time and 44 full-time employees were laid off. According to the report, the hospital used benchmarks from other healthcare institutions across the country to find areas where it employed too many people. The hospital did not specify which departments were affected.
This is Hutchinson's second workforce reduction in roughly a year — in March 2011, it laid off a similar number of employees.
