For-profit hospital operator Hudson Holdco, based in Hudson County, N.J., has rebranded itself as CarePoint Health.
The new health system will encompass Hudson Holdco's three hospitals: Bayonne (N.J.) Medical Center, Hoboken (N.J.) University Medical Center and Christ Hospital in Jersey City, N.J. CarePoint Health also operates its own health insurance plans: CarePoint Advantage, a Medicare Advantage plan, and CarePoint Guardian, a special needs plan.
CarePoint Health also plans to offer a Medicaid plan and operate in the healthcare reform law's health insurance marketplaces by the end of this year, according to a Star-Ledger report.
"Our goal is to keep patients healthy and out of the hospital," Spencer Baretz, a CarePoint Health spokesman, said in a news release. "We also want to reduce the cost of healthcare in Hudson County. Creating our own insurance plans and integrating our hospitals and healthcare services helps us do that."
