New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced Monday that he would enact emergency regulations that counter the possible repeal of the ACA and guarantee New York residents the same 10 basic health services currently required under the ACA.
These 10 services include emergency room visits, maternity care and prescription drug coverage.
The new regulations, implemented through the New York State Department of Financial Services, will ban insurers that withdraw from the state's ACA marketplace from participating in Medicaid, Child Plus, or Essential Plan programs.
No matter what changes may occur on the federal level, Mr. Cuomo's plan guarantees that all contraceptive and birth control devices are covered without co-pays or deductibles by all plans available on the state marketplace.
"We will not stand idly by as ultra-conservatives in Washington try to roll back the progress we have made to expand access quality, affordable healthcare, putting our most vulnerable New Yorkers at risk," Mr. Cuomo said.
