Sen. Jerry Moran, R-Kan., held a town hall meeting Thursday and received some critical comments regarding the Senate's proposed healthcare bill from his children's pediatrician, according to Think Progress.
Bob Cox, MD, has treated Mr. Moran's daughters since they were babies, and took time during the town hall to argue against the Better Care Reconciliation Act, which he said would not protect the health and well-being of Americans.
"The federal government is charged with the protection of its citizens from external threat," Dr. Cox said. "The U.S. military provides this service, and it's funded appropriately. We as a culture have not accepted the responsibility to protect citizens from internal threat, disease and injury."
Mr. Moran had said at a town hall earlier this year that he would vote for any ACA repeal, but came out last week against the BCRA.
