Editors at Gallup have handpicked the top articles from 2015 about business and the workplace.
Here are six of the best business articles from last year, according to Gallup.
1. Employees want a lot more from their managers. Since managers account for nearly 70 percent of variance in employee engagement, managers should be sure to communicate and assist employees in developing their strengths.
2. Obsolete annual reviews: Gallup's advice. Employees should know what's expected of them at work, but only 50 percent actually do. To that end, many companies have stopped conducting annual performance reviews.
3. Only one in 10 people possess the talent to manage. This 10 percent of individuals are not only better managers and brand ambassadors, they also help retain top employees.
4. Female bosses are more engaging than male bosses. Though only one in three Americans claim they have a female boss, Gallup's research found companies should focus on hiring and promoting women.
5. The German workforce has a burnout problem. Approximately 2.7 million German workers feel burned out. Because the burnout is harmful to the country, the European Union's largest economy, German managers should focus on employee recognition.
6. Americans agree: U.S. must develop its workforce talent. The majority of Americans — 78 percent — believe the U.S. will lag behind other countries if the government doesn't invest in the talent of its workforce.
