Former Kansas Hospital Association CEO dies at 81

Donald Wilson, a longtime president and CEO of the Kansas Hospital Association, died May 14 at the age of 81.

Mr. Wilson served in the top leadership role at the association for 22 years before retiring in 2014. After retirement, Mr. Wilson worked part time as a healthcare consultant and served on the boards of the Marian Clinic in Topeka, Kan., and Via Christi Health in Wichita, Kan.

Prior to his time at the Kansas Hospital Association, Mr. Wilson was vice president of finance and planning for the Iowa Hospital Association.

"Don Wilson left a lasting legacy of improved health care for the citizens of Kansas, and for many across the country," said American Hospital Association President and CEO Rick Pollack. "As CEO of the Kansas Hospital Association, he was a committed, strong and effective advocate for hospitals and the patients they serve. And he was a tireless champion for rural hospitals and health care, recognizing the essential role they provide their communities."
