Shriners Hospitals for Children in Tampa (Fla.) will lay off 60 employees, according to the Tampa Bay Business Journal.
The layoffs are slated to take effect Aug. 1, according to the Business Journal report, citing an April 29 letter to the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity.
They will affect nurses as well as technicians, pharmacy workers and administration.
The hospital's letter stated, "This transition is expected to be permanent in nature and is the result of industrywide changes in the delivery of healthcare."
The layoffs come as the hospital plans to end inpatient care and focus on outpatient care amid declining inpatient volumes.
