Florida city to rename street in honor of hospital CEO killed last year

The city commission in Coral Gables, Fla., voted Jan. 10 to rename a portion of Santander Avenue in honor of Coral Gables Hospital CEO Cristina Jimenez, who police said was killed by her husband in a murder-suicide last November, a city spokesperson confirmed to Becker's.

Santander Avenue, between University Drive and Malaga Avenue, will be renamed "Cristina Jimenez Way."

Ms. Jimenez became CEO of Coral Gables Hospital in 2017 after serving as the facility's COO.

Coral Gables Mayor Vince Lago, who served on the hospital's board, described her as a hardworking and exceptional woman who was devoted to her job, according to the Miami Herald.

Coral Gables Hospital is part of Dallas-based Steward Health Care.
