The American College of Cardiology has a new president — Mary Norine Walsh, MD.
Here are six things to know about Dr. Walsh.
1. She took over the presidency March 19.
2. Dr. Walsh has been a member of ACC for 25 years. She previously served as president of the ACC's Indiana Chapter as well as on multiple ACC committees, according to a news release.
3. Commenting on her new role, she said in the release: "Team-based care has been a passion of mine in my own practice and the college will continue to have a focus on this in the next few years to come. Working in teams will allow us to better serve the populations of patients whose care we undertake."
4. At present, she is the director of the heart failure and cardiac transplantation programs and director of nuclear cardiology at Indianapolis-based St. Vincent Heart Center.
5. She is also on the Journal of Cardiac Failure editorial board and is an editorial consultant for JACC: Heart Failure, according to the release.
6. Dr. Walsh earned undergraduate and medical degrees from Minneapolis-based University of Minnesota.
