Republican presidential candidate and businessman Donald Trump said Sept. 13 that increasing CEO pay is "a total and complete joke," but that he can't do anything to change it, according to CBS News.
In an interview on CBS' "Face the Nation," Mr. Trump addressed current debates on CEO pay. "It does bug me. It's very hard if you have a free enterprise system to do anything about that," Mr. Trump said. "You know the boards of companies are supposed to do it but I know companies very well and the CEO puts in all his friends ... and they get whatever they want you know because their friends love sitting on the board."
"That's the system that we have and it's a shame and it's disgraceful," he added. "You see these guys making these enormous amounts of money. It's a total and complete joke."
In the interview, Mr. Trump also discussed a preview of his tax plan as well as his thoughts on fellow Republican GOP candidates Ben Carson, MD, and Carly Fiorina.
