Diagnostic Imaging of Salem (Ore.) will close this month, resulting in the layoff of 34 employees, according to a Statesman Journal report.
The medical imaging center, which offers X-ray/fluoroscopy, bone densitometry, high-field open MRI, ultrasound and low-dose CT services, is slated to close Jan. 26, Jennifer Whybark, an administrator with Diagnostic Imaging Associates, told the Statesman Journal. Thirty-four employees will lose their jobs as a result.
Ms. Whybark said declining reimbursements forced Diagnostic Imaging Associates to close the center, according to the report. She also attributed the move to high workloads at the center, along with Samaritan Albany (Ore.) General Hospital and Legacy Silverton (Ore.) Medical Center. Diagnostic Imaging Associates contracts with all three locations. The company is laying off 34 of its 43 employees but has no plans to stop providing services at Legacy Silverton or Samaritan Albany, Ms. Whybark told the Statesman Journal.
The layoffs do not affect radiologists.
