Although 43 percent of healthcare workers think the economy is getting weaker, 58 percent are confident in the future of their current employer, according to the most recent quarterly Randstad Healthcare Employment Report.
Surve responses are based on a quarterly survey of 232 people currently employed in the healthcare industry, including physicians, healthcare administrators and other healthcare professionals. The confidence index dropped 4.5 points to 53.9 in the second quarter of 2012, but 37 percent of healthcare workers said they will likely look for a new job in the next 12 months — up six percentage points from the first quarter of 2012.

• The economy is staying the same: 37 percent
• The economy is getting weaker: 43 percent

• There are more jobs available: 24 percent
• There are neither more jobs nor fewer jobs (neutral): 27 percent
• There are fewer jobs available: 49 percent
Healthcare workers on ability to find a new job
• Confident in ability to find a new job: 51 percent
• Neutral in ability to find a new job: 35 percent
• Not confident in ability to find a new job: 14 percent
Healthcare workers on switching to a new job
• Likely to transition to a new job in the next 12 months: 37 percent
• Neither unlikely nor likely to transition to a new job in the next 12 months: 16 percent
• Not likely transition to a new job in the next 12 months: 47 percent

• Likely to lose job in the next 12 months: 8 percent
• Neither unlikely nor likely to lose job in the next 12 months: 21 percent
