Democratic congresswoman starts PAC to support candidates who back Medicare-for-all

Rep. Pramila Jayapal, D-Wash., has founded the Medicare for All PAC to fund congressional candidates who support the single-payer legislation proposed by Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., according to The Hill.

The Medicare for All bill has 16 Democratic Senate co-sponsors, many of whom are considered likely candidates for the 2020 presidential election.

"Insurance companies, drug manufacturers and special-interest groups have been standing in the way of real progress for too long— it's time we fought back," said Ms. Jayapal. "Healthcare cannot be a luxury that’s only available for the wealthy and well-connected—it is a human right. Now is the time for Medicare-for-all."
